Executive Editor Mike Austin takes us around some of the quirks of the Porsche 918 Spyder.
 
Sixteen years after its initial release, the 918 Spyder still performs as strong as pretty much anything on the road, utilizing hybrid technology that set the groundworks for the slew of hybrid supercars we now see for sale today. 
 
The 918 packs a 4.6-liter V-8, similar to the one in the RS Spyder that won the ALMS championship from 2006 to ’08. The motorsport lineage further appears in its free-revving character, 9150-rpm redline, and modest 398 lb-ft of peak torque.
