1.  Anti-conformity
Both deliberately reject what society says you “should” be and rebel against ideologies that demand you perform a version of yourself that doesn’t feel true.
2.  Emotional intellectuals
They tend to be introspective and deeply feeling and tuned into the heavier, darker realities most people prefer to ignore.
3.  Anti-oppression
Goth culture rose against the pressures of mainstream conformity. The vegan movement rose against the unnecessary exploitation of animals. Both are rebellions against systems that harm what they value.
