To rejuvenate the face, we first need to understand how it ages. The face does not exist separately from the tissues around it. That is why we don’t begin by touching the face at all.

We start with the chest, neck, and scalp, beginning with gentle lymphatic drainage to support fluid movement. We also work with tissue restrictions, including around the epicranial aponeurosis, to restore healthy mobility.

With aging, inflammation, injury, and other stresses, tissues can become stiffer and less mobile. Fibrosis is an excessive buildup and remodeling of collagen and other components of the extracellular matrix. It can further restrict movement between tissue layers and contribute to facial aging, including tissue descent and ptosis.

This is also why we don’t use aggressive facial massage. More pressure does not mean better results. We work with a light to medium light hand to reduce restriction and tension while supporting circulation, fluid movement, and healthy tissue mobility.

The sequence matters. We begin with lymphatic drainage, then address tissue restrictions, work with the superficial muscles, add buccal massage when appropriate, and finish with lifting and sculpting movements.

Facial and postural exercises can then help maintain mobility and muscular function between treatments.

Facial rejuvenation isn’t about forcing the face upward. It’s about understanding how the face ages and working with the tissues in the right sequence.
