A 10-foot-long albino reticulated python was captured earlier this week after a driver spotted the reptile along the side of a Myrtle Beach road.

Pythons are not native to South Carolina, and an expert believes the snake was a pet that either escaped or was intentionally released.

Under state law, it is illegal to intentionally release non-native wildlife from captivity.
