Back-to-School Month Grantee Highlight: The ROCK Center

Mental health support shouldn’t have to wait until a young person reaches a crisis. That’s why Caring for Denver is proud to support The ROCK Center, whose Peace Warriors program brings trauma-informed, arts-based mental wellness programming directly into Denver schools and community spaces.

Through creativity, connection, and community, Peace Warriors helps youth build the skills essential to long-term well-being, including meaningful relationships, healthy coping strategies, emotional regulation, confidence, and resilience. By embedding mental wellness into places youth already gather, the program reduces barriers like cost, stigma, and access to traditional clinical settings.

The impact reaches beyond individual participants. Caregivers report meaningful changes at home, educators see stronger student engagement, and youth leaders describe gaining lifelong coping skills, confidence, and leadership experience.

By the numbers:

• 93% felt like they were part of a community at Peace Warriors
• 91% learned new tools to express themselves and their feelings
• 98% of caregivers reported their child learned new skills to cope with challenges or difficult emotions
• 00% of participating schools said Peace Warriors increases access to mental wellness support for students who might not otherwise receive it

The ROCK Center is helping ensure Denver youth have opportunities to build belonging, strengthen their mental wellness, and access support before challenges become crises.
