#2021 August 1st was the first year that Canada officially recognized August 1st as Emancipation Day. 

The Date Commemorates the anniversary of when Briatains parliament abolished slavery in the British empire on Aug. 1st 1834. 

Emancipation day is about learning Canada’s Collective history - A complete history that includes the Candadian history of slavery.
