An 8-foot python named Nanner was linked to a fire at a Virginia middle school in Bedford County, between Lynchburg and Roanoke.⁠

Officials said the snake knocked over a heat lamp. But a teacher at Forest Middle School, Brittany Jacobs, who is trained as a vet, said Nanner escaped only after the fire started to avoid the heat. ⁠
