More than 3,000 Black pilots, aviation professionals, and industry leaders gathered in Chicago for the 50th Annual Conference of obapexcellence, celebrating five decades of breaking barriers and creating pathways in the skies.

Long before thousands could gather in one room, pioneers like Bessie Coleman, the first Black and Native American woman to earn a pilot's license, and Eugene Bullard, the world's first Black military pilot, dared to dream in an industry that didn't make room for them. Because they refused to accept "no," generations of Black aviators have continued to climb higher.

Today, that legacy fills convention halls, cockpits, classrooms, and control towers. Proof that representation matters.

Swipe to see what Black power looks like in aviation today! 🖤✈️ #OBAP50
