After spending more than a decade playing Tony Stark in the MCU, Robert Downey Jr. has revealed that, for now, he prefers playing Doctor Doom.⁠

Speaking at D23, Downey Jr. explained that playing the villain in Avengers: Doomsday gave him a completely different perspective on the MCU, as he found himself watching the other heroes from the opposite side.⁠

The actor also teased that a key relationship in the upcoming film is "so exciting and unexpected and beautiful".⁠

Fans will get to see Downey Jr. fully step into the role when Avengers: Doomsday arrives in cinemas on 18 December 2026.⁠
