You can never make the right investment into the wrong person.

And doing it in higher volumes isn't going to change the outcome.

Imagine you're trying to build a car, but you keep buying all the wrong parts.

You buy more parts. You spend more money. You work harder.

Then, when the car still doesn't run, you get angry.

But who's the idiot in that situation?

The same thing happens with people.

If you're continually investing your time, energy, affection, and attention into relationships with people you're fundamentally incompatible with, no amount of effort is going to create the outcome you want.

If the only thing holding the relationship together is a mutual need for affection, attention, validation, or companionship, eventually that foundation is going to crack.

You need more than chemistry.

You need compatibility.

Shared values.
Similar interests.
Compatible lifestyles.
Mutual respect.
Compatible visions for the future.

Otherwise, you're just pouring more resources into the wrong machine and wondering why it won't run.

The lesson isn't always "try harder."

Sometimes the lesson is:

Stop investing in the wrong person.

Because no amount of investment can turn the wrong relationship into the right one.
