## Caption

An 11th-place conference finish and a pair of losses to end the season well short of the NCAA tournament. 

That was last season for NC State volleyball. It doesn’t sound like anything to be excited about, but the team is excited for its upcoming season.

“The skill work is higher than it’s ever been.”
head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney said. 

The team has also been focused on improving its defense. New assistant coach Jeremiah Burden joined the program in May and has made a difference in the way the program approaches the defensive side of the game.

Fans can look forward to a team that places defensive effort closer to the heart of its identity.
