South Carolina controlled the game throughout behind national player-of-the-year favorite Aliyah Boston, who was named tournament MVP after anchoring the Gamecocks in the paint all weekend. South Carolina's dominant frontcourt and stifling defense gave Tennessee fits, and the Volunteers, who had needed a tight one-point win over LSU just to reach the final, could never find enough consistent offense to seriously threaten the Gamecocks' lead. The win capped a dominant three-day stretch for South Carolina, which had also handled Arkansas and Ole Miss by comfortable margins on its way to the title game, continuing an undefeated run through SEC play that season.
