The South Carolina Gamecocks outlasted rival Clemson in a tense Palmetto Series battle Wednesday night, breaking through in the final minutes for a 1-0 victory in front of a record-breaking crowd of 7,004 at Stone Stadium, the largest attendance for any men's or women's soccer match in the venue's history. The win snapped a four-year draw streak against the Tigers and marked South Carolina's first victory in the rivalry since 2018.

Both sides created chances early, with the Gamecocks firing the first shot in the 7th minute and fifth-year goalkeeper Christina Tsaousis answering Clemson's response with a save at the other end. The Tigers kept pressing through the first half with four more attempts, but Tsaousis and the South Carolina back line held firm to keep it scoreless at the break.

The tension ratcheted up late. With ten minutes remaining, a yellow card on Dempsey McMahon gave Clemson a free kick and the Tigers' best window, but Tsaousis turned away the first attempt and the second missed just wide. Then, with six minutes left, Cuyler Zulauf delivered the moment the record crowd came for, ripping a rocket to the right side from just inside the 18 for her first goal of the season and the 10th of her career. Tsaousis closed out the win with a season-high-tying four saves for her second shutout of the campaign, the 10th time in 12 all-time wins over Clemson that the Gamecocks have blanked the Tigers.
