Handlogten went up for an offensive rebound and landed hard, breaking his leg just over two minutes into the game. Auburn coach Bruce Pearl said afterward the injury hurt Florida's depth even further, while Florida coach Todd Golden called it a fluky play rarely seen in the sport. Despite the shaky start, Auburn got out in front early and never trailed. Florida made things interesting in the second half, cutting the deficit to just a single point at one stretch, but Auburn answered with a run that put the Tigers back in firm control, and they closed the door by shooting 64.3 percent from the floor after halftime. Johni Broome anchored the win with 19 points and 11 rebounds, adding three assists and three blocks, and was named tournament MVP after totaling 47 points, 24 rebounds and six blocks across the three tournament games in Nashville. Denver Jones added 11 points, and Chad Baker-Mazara chipped in 10 before both he and Broome exited to a standing ovation in the final minutes. The win extended Auburn's winning streak to six games and pushed the Tigers to 27-7 on the season, while Florida, playing its fourth game in as many days, fell to 24-11 in a bid for the program's fifth title and first since 2014. The victory was also a personal milestone for Pearl, marking his 200th career win in 10 seasons at Auburn.
