Fifth-ranked South Carolina completed a dominant three-day run through the SEC Tournament by throttling top-seeded Texas 64-45, claiming the program's ninth SEC Tournament title in the last 11 years under head coach Dawn Staley, the third straight for the Gamecocks.

The game was lopsided from the opening tip. South Carolina jumped out to an early lead and never trailed, building a 33-to-16 halftime cushion behind stifling defense that held Texas to just 29.6 percent shooting from the field and outscored the Longhorns 40-to-18 in the paint. Texas managed only six points in the second quarter, and the Longhorns' offense never found rhythm the rest of the way, turning the ball over 18 times and losing the rebound battle 37 to 35 while shooting just 30 percent for the game. 

Tournament MVP Chloe Kitts led South Carolina with 15 points and nine rebounds, and Tessa Johnson added 14 points as the Gamecocks controlled the game from start to finish. For Texas, Rori Harmon finished with 14 points, and Taylor Jones also scored 14, going 4-for-8 from the field and perfect from the free-throw line, but neither could generate enough offense to keep pace. Madison Booker struggled offensively for the Longhorns, managing just two points in the first half before finishing with a double-double, though her slow start proved costly. 

Coach Staley admitted afterward she expected this year's title to be tougher than any of the program's previous championships given the addition of Texas and Oklahoma to the conference, but South Carolina made the run look effortless. The Gamecocks closed the regular season having split their series with Texas before the tournament, beating the Longhorns in Columbia in January before falling to them in Austin in February. The win pushed South Carolina to 30 and 3 on the season heading into Selection Sunday, and the Gamecocks carried that momentum all the way to the national championship game, where they eventually fell to UConn.
