A brace from Hannah Bell in just her second game with the Tigers led Auburn to a 5 to 0 victory over Jacksonville State on Sunday evening, giving head coach James Armstrong's squad its first win of the season after the previous week's scoreless draw with Clemson.

Fifth-year Dylan Driver opened the scoring in the 14th minute, breaking away to beat the Jacksonville State goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation with her left foot, a goal that marked the ninth of Driver's career and gave Auburn an early 1- 0 lead. Auburn kept pouring on the pressure from there. Bell picked up her first goal as a Tiger in the 37th minute, following up on a blocked shot, then struck again just minutes later in the 43rd minute for her second goal of the game. Freshmen Fizz Hutton and Chloe Taylor each added their first career goals to complete the rout.

Auburn dominated the run of play throughout, outshooting Jacksonville State 23 to 4 and putting 11 of those shots on target. Armstrong was pleased with the depth his team showed, noting a top-team performance in which everyone available got a chance to play and show what they could do, a deliberate choice after resting some key players against Clemson the week before. He added that Jacksonville State is a possession-oriented team, making the shutout all the more meaningful.

The win improved Auburn to 0-0-1 in the young season following the draw with Clemson, while Jacksonville State dropped to 0-1. 

Auburn stays home to continue its season, while Jacksonville State looks to regroup on the road.
