Northwestern State 0, LSU 5
LSU Soccer Stadium, Baton Rouge, LA. August 16, 2026

16th-ranked LSU picked up its first win of the season, cruising past Northwestern State 5- 0 in a match the Tigers controlled from start to finish.
And The Valley Shook

LSU dominated the shot chart all night, putting nine of its 24 shots on target while Northwestern State managed just three total shots, and the Tigers held a 13-to-nothing advantage in corner kicks. Despite the lopsided territory, the scoreboard remained blank through the first 45 minutes, with LSU outshooting the Demons 10-1 in the first half alone yet unable to beat Northwestern State's goalkeeper. That changed quickly out of the break. LSU broke through in the 52nd minute when sophomore Sariyah Bailey sent a corner kick to the feet of senior forward Ava Galligan, who knocked it into the corner, and the Tigers kept the pressure on, scoring three total goals in a span of just over three minutes.
LSU Athletics + 4

Senior Allie Fryer converted a penalty kick to make it 2-0, and moments later Linka Ono headed home a cross from Brielyn Knowles to make it 3-0. Freshman Ryann Denecour added her first goal of the season in the 83rd minute off a deflected corner kick, and Denecour then set up freshman Mia Conard for the fifth and final goal two minutes later.
And The Valley Shook + 2

Goalkeeper Audur Scheving earned the win in net, playing the first 67-plus minutes before Marie Pues finished out the match, and together the pair recorded LSU's first shutout of the season. The win marked LSU's first home win of 2026, moving the Tigers to 1- 1 on the season after opening with a 2- 0 loss at Wake Forest the week before. LSU's five second-half goals were the most the program had scored since a 2009 NCAA Tournament opener, and the win pushed LSU's all-time record against Northwestern State to 6 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie. Northwestern State fell to 0-2 in the young season, having also dropped a 9-0 decision to Oklahoma the week before. LSU stays home to host UCF next.
