JBL says WWE should hire acting coaches for its roster.

The idea came up on Something to Wrestle when Conrad Thompson pointed out that wrestlers arrive at the building hours before a show with little to do, and asked why that time isn't used for acting classes with the whole roster.

JBL agreed. On the current state of pre-taped segments:

"They're freaking horrible. People overact. They underact. It just they don't respond right."

He said the business used to avoid admitting how much acting was involved, and that characters worked because they were extensions of the performer.

"Stone Cold wasn't far away from Steve Austin. The Undertaker pretty much was the dead man. Shawn Michaels, that guy's the heartbreak kid."

JBL said the problem shows up when someone is cast against type, which he called hard even for world class actors. He said a coach reviewing footage with performers would help.

"I think it would help our business significantly."
