Based on the artist’s quite recent discovery of The Cloud Appreciation Society, a worldwide group of artists, scientists, cloudspotters and dreamers who all have quite a passion for the fluffy things. “I fell in love with people sharing clouds they had seen,” says Liang. “It made me look up more – especially in London, where a blue sky in winter is a treat.”

Collecting visual references from film and music, the artist’s tender drawings are like a road trip across an empty America, where transience is never-ending. “I found this feeling of disillusionment in the US. I knew this country through images I’ve seen over and over again – images from Hollywood films, the famous American dream... images so carefully crafted to stir up desire that it can only be disappointing when you step out from behind the screen,” says Louise.
