Harriett Alleyne Rice (1866-1958) graduated from Wellesley College in 1887, earned a medical degree from Women’s Medical School of the New York Infirmary, and served as a medical assistant for the French Government in World War I, where she received the bronze medal of Reconnaissance Française for her service. 

She worked with Jane Addams and Ellen Gates Starr at Hull House Chicago and provided medical treatment for impoverished families.
