Queen’s Rowing is taking on an international challenge. 

Gaels Julia Teixeira and Kaija Erickson have been named to Team Canada for the 2026 FISU World University Championships, taking place August 13–15 at Fanshawe Lake in London, Ontario.

Teixeira, entering her fourth season with the Gaels, will compete in the Women’s Double (W2x) alongside McGill’s Maria (Marese) Fletcher. Bringing international experience to the crew, Julia previously represented Canada at the U23 World Rowing Championships.

Erickson will race in Canada’s Women’s Eight (W8+), joining athletes from universities across Canada and the United States, with Carleton’s Jack Pankratz as coxswain.

This year’s championship is a historic one - the FISU World University Rowing Championships will be hosted in Canada for the first time, welcoming approximately 300 student-athletes from more than 20 countries to compete on home waters.

From representing the Tricolour to racing alongside some of the world’s top university rowers, Julia and Kaija are bringing the Gaels to the international stage.
