Joe Hisaishi received his THIRD standing ovation of the night after returning for a THIRD encore at Radio City Music Hall.

Hisaishi is the composer behind the music of some of Studio Ghibli’s most iconic films, including “My Neighbor Totoro,” “Spirited Away,” “Howl’s Moving Castle” and “The Boy and the Heron,” through his decades-long collaboration with legendary filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki.

Studio Ghibli’s films have become a worldwide cultural phenomenon. “Spirited Away” alone grossed nearly $396 million worldwide, became Japan’s highest-grossing film at the time and won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.

The audience spent more than 20 minutes applauding across Hisaishi’s three encores as he closed out the seventh and final night of his NYC residency.
