A surplus army vehicle is New Jersey's newest fire truck!⁠

After seeing so many difficult water rescues in his area, Hawthorne resident Walter Wargacki donated an army surplus vehicle he purchased at an auction several years ago.⁠
⁠
The truck can carry up to 20 people, saving the Hawthorne Fire Department a lot of time while evacuating flood victims. Traditional vehicles used by Department in the past only fit 2-3 people.⁠
