YANKEES SWEEP THE ORIOLES 🧹🧹

That’s 4 wins in a row! The Yanks take all three in Baltimore behind a rock-solid Gerrit Cole and their second-straight 5+ run performance!

Big shoutout to Cole for getting through an effective 6 innings on a night where Bednar, Headrick and Blackburn were all unavailable. His only mistake was a homer to Beavers in the 5th. With the win, Cole improves to 7-6 on the season and lowers his ERA to 3.11.

The bats really showed some life in this one! It all started with a 3-run 3rd. Caballero made things happen with a ground ball, Rice roped an RBI single and Heliot Ramos doubled for his first Yankee RBI.

After the O’s got one back in the 5th, New York added 2 in the 6th.  Luis Garcia Jr roped his second homer as a Yankee, then Spencer Jones went the other way for a homer to make it 6-1 Yanks. A Jazz RBI triple in the 8th gave an extra insurance run.

Overall, the Yanks had 11 hits and 2 walks as a team. They were 2-for-8 with RISP and stranded 5. 

Garcia and Jones led the offensive effort, with each going 3-for-4 with a homer and 2 runs scored.

As for the bullpen, Ryan Yarbrough truly deserves his flowers. He finished off the W with 3 scoreless innings for his 3rd save of the season.

All around a really solid win. Especially great to grab a game with the Sox off and the Rays losing to Toronto. As far out as it sounds, 4 games back with over a month to play and 4 games against Tampa ain’t impossible. It ain’t over ’til it’s over.

Up next, the Yankees will take on Toronto for another 3-game weekend set, this time in New York. First pitch at 7:05 pm ET tomorrow with Cam Schlittler on the mound. #LetsGoYankees
