More than meets the eye 👀

Ancient ancestors of the dolphin hid from the sun’s UV rays using two light-detecting spots. Fascinatingly, some inherited mutations that allowed them to perceive light and shade together, so they could visualise their environment - essentially becoming the first proper eyes.
