Coming back from a secluded retreat in the forests of the Pontiac region, Quebec, 90 to 120 minutes drive from Ottawa. 😍

My family and I spent two nights in a cozy dome tucked away in the middle of the forest, overlooking the Coulonge River. It was peaceful, beautiful, and honestly felt like stepping away from everything for a little while.

The domes come furnished with a comfortable bed, night tables, a fireplace, chairs, and a coffee table. Outside, there’s also a BBQ and a fire pit. There’s no electricity inside, which makes the experience feel even more like a true escape into nature, but there are battery-powered lamps, so you’re not completely off the grid.

The site also has modern shared washrooms with showers and even a sauna. 🔥

But my favourite part? The stairs leading all the way down to the river. The views are absolutely stunning. There’s comfortable patio furniture where you can sit back, read a book, sunbathe, or simply enjoy the scenery.

And then there’s the river. You can take a kayak or hop on one of the floaties and just drift away. The current is gentle, and you can tie the floaties to anchors with cords so you can relax without worrying about floating too far downstream. 😁 You can also stand in the water, as it’s not very deep.

One thing to keep in mind: I wouldn’t recommend this place for families with little kids, as there isn’t any entertainment specifically for them. I think it’s better suited for couples, friends, or families with older kids who simply enjoy being outdoors.

It was such a peaceful and magical experience. 🌿
