Solana just cut its mainnet slot time from 400 milliseconds to 350, the first step toward an eventual 200 millisecond target.

The important part is not simply processing more transactions. It is reducing latency, speeding confirmations, and shrinking the amount of time any single validator controls block production.

If Solana can keep pushing toward 200ms without sacrificing stability, it moves closer to the kind of infrastructure needed for high frequency trading, real time payments, DeFi, and applications where blockchain interactions need to feel nearly instantaneous.

That is a much bigger story than “Solana got faster.”
