The enterprise AI market is sending a clear signal.

Anthropic’s newest model may be getting the headlines, but businesses are still spending most of their money elsewhere.

Ramp’s data shows Fable 5 accounting for only about 11% of business spend on Anthropic models, with little evidence that share is accelerating. Meanwhile, older models such as Opus 4.8 continue to dominate usage.

That matters.

Enterprise adoption is not a leaderboard.

Companies care about reliability, integration, latency, cost, predictable behavior and whether an existing workflow already works.

A model can be technically superior and still lose the deployment battle if the improvement is not large enough to justify rebuilding around it.

The bigger AI story is shifting from who has the smartest model to who becomes embedded deeply enough that businesses stop switching.

That is where the real moat may be forming.
