The Bruins went last season without a captain for the first time since the 2001-02 season, when they utilized four ‘A’s.

The two most likely candidates for the ‘C’ in David Pastrnak and Charlie McAvoy, wore A’s along with other notable veteran Bruins in 2025-26.

“From [Ray] Bourque, [Zdeno] Chara, [Patrice] Bergeron. We like leaders, not followers. So you can hopefully have 20 leaders. That’s the one thing that we look at: who is going to help lead the team?
