This is how a Formula 1 screw is made — because in F1, even the smallest component is engineered to perfection. 🏎️🔩

When you look at a Formula 1 car, your attention naturally goes to the massive rear wing, aerodynamic bodywork, carbon-fiber chassis or screaming power unit.

But hidden underneath all of that are thousands of tiny components that have to work perfectly.

Even something as simple as a screw can be a highly engineered part.

In Formula 1, weight matters.

Strength matters.

Material properties matter.

Manufacturing tolerances matter.

And reliability matters.

A component that would be considered ordinary on a road car can become critical when it's being used on a machine traveling at more than 300 km/h.

F1 components can be manufactured from specialized materials such as high-strength steels, titanium or other engineered alloys, depending on the application.

The manufacturing process can involve precision machining, forming, heat treatment and surface finishing.

And the dimensions aren't simply “close enough.”

Threads, diameters, head geometry and tolerances can all be precisely controlled.

Why go to so much trouble for something so small?

Because an F1 car is essentially a giant system where thousands of individual components have to work together.

A tiny fastener can be responsible for securing an important piece of hardware.

It has to withstand vibration, heat, mechanical loads and repeated stress without loosening or failing.

And when engineers are trying to remove every unnecessary gram from a race car, they can't simply make everything massively oversized.

The goal is to find the perfect balance:

Minimum weight. Maximum strength. Absolute reliability.

That's what makes Formula 1 engineering so fascinating.
