Unitree just unveiled a humanoid robot that it says can run faster than Usain Bolt. 🤖💨

The new prototype, nicknamed “Superman,” reportedly reached a top speed of 12.66 m/s, around 28.3 mph. That narrowly beats the roughly 12.42 m/s peak speed Bolt reached during his world-record 100-meter sprint in 2009.

The robot was reportedly developed in just over three months and can also perform a 2-meter standing jump.

One important detail: Unitree’s speed figure is company-reported and hasn’t been independently verified under the same conditions as Bolt’s official race performance.

Still, humanoid robots going from barely walking to potentially outrunning the fastest human ever is a pretty wild jump in just a few years.
