🚨 JAYDEN NELSON TO BOLTON 🚨

This one really came out of nowhere. Bolton Wanderers are finalizing a deal to sign Jayden Nelson from Austin FC for a fee in excess of $1 million, with the proposed agreement reportedly including a $1.1M fee plus add-ons.

There was some chatter after the Philadelphia Union match that Nelson had been saying his goodbyes in the locker room, and now it looks like we know why.

Austin FC acquired Nelson from Vancouver ahead of the 2026 season for $1.25M in GAM - $700K in 2026 GAM, $550K in 2027 GAM, plus a 2026 first-round draft pick. Vancouver also retained a percentage of a future transfer/trade above an agreed amount.

Nelson was making $554K in guaranteed compensation per MLSPA and occupied only a senior roster slot.

If finalized, Nelson’s time in Austin ends after just 15 appearances, two goals, and lots of injury problems.
