One of those hikes where you stop every few minutes because the view somehow keeps getting better. 🏔️🤍

Lac Blanc might just have one of the most beautiful views in Chamonix. Sitting high above the valley with the Mont Blanc massif stretched out in front of you, it’s one of those places that hardly feels real.

You don’t have to do the long hike from the valley to experience it, but I was still sore for days afterwards. ☺️

🥾 The easiest + shortest route to Lac Blanc:

🚡 Take the Flégère gondola from Les Praz

🚠 From Flégère, take the Index chairlift up to around 2,500m

🏔️ From the top of Index, follow the marked trail toward Refuge du Lac Blanc

⏱️ Plan roughly 1.5hrs to reach the lake. The trail is hard, and it is rocky with loose gravel in sections, so good shoes are a must.

Once you arrive, take your time. The views across to Mont Blanc and the surrounding peaks are absolutely incredible, and on a calm day you may even catch that iconic reflection in the lake. 🤍

Getting back: You can retrace your route to the Index lift, or continue hiking down toward the Flégère station and take the gondola back to Les Praz.

A few tips:
🏔️Go early for fewer crowds + easier parking
🏔️Check lift opening dates and operating times before you go
🏔️Bring layers because weather changes quickly at this elevation
🏔️Wear proper hiking shoes for the rocky sections
🏔️And give yourself plenty of time to just sit and take this one in
🏔️Bring a picnic and plenty of water
🏔️Pack sunscreen and a hat
🏔️Hiking poles are so helpful! 

After so many summers in Chamonix, this is still one of those views 🤩
