Story Book 1021: 🕉️ A 1,000+ year journey into Shiva, history & heritage | Kumararama

Today was not only a temple visit.

It was a family darshanam at one of Andhra Pradesh’s five sacred Pancharama Kshetras — Sri Chalukya Kumararama Sri Bhimeswaraswamy Temple. 🙏

🛕 A little history for those who may not know this beautiful kshetram:

Kumararama traces its monumental history to the Eastern Chalukya period. The temple is recorded as having been constructed by King Chalukya Bhima I toward the end of the 9th century CE, and inscriptions indicate that this area was historically known as Chalukya Bhimavaram.

🔱 One of its most fascinating architectural features is the towering limestone Shiva Linga, which rises from the ground floor into the upper level of the shrine.

The temple tradition also includes Sri Bala Tripura Sundari Ammavaru, the Ekashila Nandi and the Pushkarini.

Amararama — Amaravati
Ksheerarama — Palakollu
Somarama — Bhimavaram

And beyond all that history, today was personal. ❤️

Somavaram. Sravana Masam. Family beside me. Bhimeswara Swamy before us.

Sometimes we plan a temple journey for weeks.

Sometimes the thought comes, everything aligns, and we simply go.
