Ottawa mom is warning parents after a disturbing Uber Eats delivery involving her 12-year-old daughter.

The Kanata mother says her daughter ordered food during a sleepover after midnight on Aug. 3. According to the mother, the driver asked for the girl’s phone number and told her and her friend they “looked very mature.”

About an hour later, a bag addressed to the 12-year-old was left at the home marked “from your secret admirer.” Nearly two weeks later, another package appeared containing candy, $20 and a note with a phone number.

The family says security footage showed a man the girl identified as the same delivery driver returning to the home. They also noticed the same white vehicle passing their house multiple times during overnight hours.

Ottawa police are investigating. Uber told CTV News the behaviour is “unacceptable,” confirmed the delivery person’s access to the app was removed after the report, and says it is cooperating with law enforcement.

The mother says she decided to speak publicly to warn other parents and encourage families to talk with their children about delivery apps and answering the door.
