Growing up in #Ottawa, we could never have imagined a moment like this. For years, Canada’s #CapitalCity was labelled “the city that fun forgot,” overlooked beside Toronto and Montreal, and often underestimated for what it truly had to offer. 

Over time, that changed as artists, creators, businesses and communities began showing the world how much talent and culture exists here. 

Shottawa was simply created during that era to show love to a city we always believed deserved more attention, but this moment is much bigger than us. 

Since the announcement, we’ve spoken to so many people across Ottawa and the reaction has been the same: people are genuinely taken aback, grateful and in awe of what #Drake and #LiveNation just gave this city. 

We’ve seen what Drake’s influence has meant for Toronto, from small gestures that helped elevate platforms and artists to HISTORY creating a major new stage for its music scene. 

Out of every Canadian city it could have expanded to next, Ottawa was chosen. Drake just gave us a permanent home for major shows, another reason for touring artists to stop here, new opportunities for emerging talent and a huge boost to Ottawa nightlife. 

Drake’s helping make Ottawa’s future look even brighter, giving the world another reason to discover our artists, slang, streamers, businesses, personalities, food, nightlife, fashion, sports, communities, culture and diversity. 

That’s why bringing the second #HISTORY to Ottawa feels so significant. Drake, we truly can’t be grateful enough for the opportunity you just gave this city. Ottawa is in awe, and we’re not ready for what comes next. 🙏🇨🇦
