🔥 BMW owners are about to get one of the wildest infotainment upgrades yet: Crunchyroll is coming directly to select BMW dashboards.

Crunchyroll announced a new collaboration with automotive app platform Appning by FORVIA, with BMW and MINI among the first brands getting the integration.

Instead of mirroring content from your phone, Crunchyroll will be available directly through compatible connected-car infotainment systems.

The app opens access to Crunchyroll’s massive catalog of more than 50,000 episodes and films totaling over 25,000 hours of anime.

There is one major catch: video is designed to play only while the vehicle is parked, with playback stopping once the car is shifted into drive.

For EV owners sitting at chargers, people waiting in parking lots, or anyone killing time before a meet, that actually gives the feature a pretty obvious use case.

In BMW vehicles, Appning already powers the in-car app store and wider digital ecosystem rather than this being a simple standalone screen-mirroring feature.

TiVo technology will also handle video discovery, allowing users to browse personalized and curated Crunchyroll content through the vehicle.

BMW and MINI are only the starting point, because Crunchyroll says the rollout is planned to expand across more than 40 automotive brands.

Availability is planned across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, India and Australia as the connected-car rollout grows.

It’s another example of how modern infotainment systems are evolving from navigation and music interfaces into full entertainment platforms.

Whether enthusiasts actually want another streaming app in their car is a different question, but watching an episode while parked definitely beats staring at a loading screen.

Would you actually use Crunchyroll on your BMW’s screen, or would you rather automakers keep the focus on the driving experience?

What are your thoughts? 🤔💭
