Last year, Esquire magazine made headlines by naming Kann, chef Gregory Gourdet’s Haitian hotspot in Southeast Portland, as America’s best new restaurant of 2022.

Now the same magazine has picked Sousòl, 227 S.E. Sixth Ave., the pan-Caribbean cocktail bar directly beneath Kann, as one of its Best Bars in America, one of two new Portland watering holes to make the 2023 list.
