What if the water coming out of your tap carried “forever chemicals?”

In Northwest Georgia, heavy industrial use has driven widespread contamination at a scale far beyond everyday exposure. AJC reporters Dylan Jackson and Justin Price tested local water and traced how PFAS has spread through the region.

Their reporting, along with an investigative collaboration with AL.com, The Associated Press, FRONTLINE (PBS) and The Post and Courier in South Carolina, follows the trail into a river system that carries the pollution all the way to Alabama.

To learn more about what PFAS means for Dalton's future, watch the full episode of "Curiosities of the South" now on the AJC YouTube channel — and subscribe for more in-depth stories shaping the region.
