Across the globe, people continue to be harassed, attacked and even killed simply for their beliefs.

“Such acts are an assault on human rights and human dignity. They must end now,” said #UnitedNations Secretary-General antonioguterres on Saturday's International Day for Victims of Violence Based on Religion or Belief.

He urged governments to bring perpetrators to justice and counter discrimination and hate speech; religious leaders to speak out against violence; and tech companies to ensure their platforms protect users from stigma and scapegoating.

“Whenever one group is persecuted, no group is safe. Today, we honour the victims of violence and commit to building societies where all faiths can live and worship in peace.”
