A man fries fish in his food stall along a street in downtown Aswan, Egypt, January 22, 2022. 

It's been very interesting meeting so many people in this country. Every single Egyptian we've met has been friendly, welcoming, and most have spoken enough English to allow us to converse comfortably. School children often learn English and are happy to have the opportunity to practice with native English speakers. But, we've met many Egyptians who speak fluent Spanish, German, and Russian in addition to English. 

This man and his son were grilling and deep frying fresh fish in their food stall in the downtown area of Aswan, a city of about 1.6 million in the south of the country. We enjoyed a nice conversation about his food, his son learning the trade, and he had lots of questions about America - Texas in particular.
