## Caption

Cedar Park defeated Manvel 52-42 on a chilly New Year’s Day at Merrill Green Stadium in Bryan, earning a trip to the state semifinals. They’ll face the winner of Saturday’s contest between Flour Bluff and Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial. 

The last time the Timberwolves made it to the state semifinals in 2015, they went all the way and won their second state title.

“It’s been five years, and it’s a lot of work,” Timberwolves head coach Carl Abseck said. “Our kids work their tails off. We’ve had chances over the last four years to be here. We’ve run into some really good football teams, and tonight we came through, and kind of got that monkey off our back.”
