When a hotel knows a guest has a registered pet, and the room is marked with a pet door hanger, staff should take reasonable care when entering the room.

If housekeeping opens the door and a dog escapes because proper precautions weren't taken, the hotel may be responsible depending on the facts.

Every case is different, but hotels have a duty to act reasonably when they know a pet is staying in the room.
