## Caption

Chassis 904-083 was built to compete, and its history reads accordingly. Delivered to French Porsche distributor Sonauto in April 1964, it raced in period at the 12 Hours of Reims, Rallye des Ardennes and Tour de France before later appearing at the Goodwood Revival and Tour Auto.

Following an accident, Porsche returned the car to the factory for a replacement chassis and body while retaining key original components. It was also upgraded to Series 2 specification, one of just ten such conversions claimed by the seller. Its matching-numbers two-liter four-cam engine and gearbox remain with the car, while a 904/6-specification six-cylinder is currently installed for driving and competition.
