If you love a good sunset (who doesn’t?), these are 5 of our favourite spots:

🥾 Vereda da Ponta de São Lourenço

This hike is epic for sunset! Start your hike in the late afternoon, and watch the sunset behind all of Madeira as you hike back along the Atlantic Ocean!

💛 Forte de São Tiago

This is one of our favourites – not because it’s the best view, but because it’s the best experience! Go for a swim in the ocean as the sun sets 🫶🏼

🌊 Doca do Cavacas

From this spot, you’ll get a clear ocean view sunset and it’s amazing! Spend the day at the rock pools and then catch the sunset at the Doca do Cavacas restaurant for the ultimate experience!

🌅 Muralha Terrace

This restaurant in Ribeira Brava (muralha.terrace) arguably has one of the best restaurant views we’ve been to – and the food is amazing! Make sure you reserve a table outside if you want to catch the sunset from here 🥘

⛰️ Pico do Arieiro

Probably the most famous spot for sunrise and sunset in Madeira because of the insane cloud inversion you can get and the proximity to Funchal.

While most people go here for sunrise, we prefer sunset because we can check the webcams for the weather forecast and because it gets way less crowded. But both sunrise and sunset are worth going for here!

⛰️ Pico Ruivo

We saved the best for last! This is the highest peak in Madeira, and totally worth the 3km hike because this is probably the most beautiful sunset spot in all of Madeira. If you’re lucky, you might even get a cloud inversion ⛅️
