After spending some time with @phoebebridgersmusic's third solo album (and first in six years) #lostweekend, senior writer Angie Martoccio and associate director of social Leah Lu get together in The Rolling Stone Studio to unpack one of the most anticipated releases of the year. #phoebebridgers 

On waiting six years to drop a new solo album: "I think it was absolutely worth the wait. I think six years is a long time. The amount of pressure she was under, not just because of her fame, but the idea of literally six years in today's day and age. People don't really take a long time anymore. And I admire that, that she waited until she was ready. And she wasn't going to release something that was half-baked."

On #radiohead's influence on the new album: "I hear a lot of the ambient, even like, 'OK Computer' era on songs like "Kill Me." The very end when she says "Let's go missing." All of that sonically, to me, sounds very much like something off 'Kid A,' even 'OK Computer,' like very late 90s, early aughts Radiohead."

On the parallels between "Graceland Too" and "Haunted": "Phoebe loves to have a country-tinged song on her albums, and this is definitely the 'Graceland Too' of this record. Unlike 'Gracelenad Too,' it's placed directly in the middle of the record. It's a beautiful centerpiece. It kind of spaces out the rest of the ambient tracks and she's kind of saying, 'Don't stop paying attention.' Like, 'I'm gonna throw this curveball.'"

On the "sad girl trope" surrounding Phoebe Bridgers being sexist: "This sort of sad girl trope that's been bestowed upon her, and maybe imitated many which ways...I'm all for—"   "I'm all for females having emotions. I agree with #lucydacus that it's a completely sexist term and I hate when people say that...yes, her voice sounds sad, but that shouldn't define her."
