On November 4, 2017, the Iowa Hawkeyes stunned the college football world by routing No. 3 (or No. 6, depending on the poll) Ohio State 55-24 at Kinnick Stadium, handing Urban Meyer the most points allowed in his Buckeyes tenure and effectively ending Ohio State’s College Football Playoff hopes that season. 

Nate Stanley threw five touchdown passes—four to tight ends including Noah Fant and T.J. Hockenson—while the Hawkeyes’ defense intercepted JT Barrett four times (including a pick-six by Amani Hooker on the first play), as Iowa amassed 487 yards of offense in a blackout-atmosphere blowout that made the 20-point underdogs bowl-eligible and left the Buckeyes reeling at 7-2.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
