N’Kiyla Jasmine Thomas (jasmineforok), a nurse running her first campaign, defeated a much better funded opponent to win Oklahoma’s Democratic Senate primary. She’s Black, white, and Native American, a member of the Chickasaw Nation, and running on Medicare for All, universal childcare, and abolishing ICE.

The odds in November are steep in a state Trump won by 34 points. But Thomas joins a growing wave of progressive primary wins across the country this year, and she’s not backing down from a fight.
