This hurts. 😌🦋 Three months of progress. Three months of helping her adjust after leaving everything familiar in Miami to come live under my care. That transition alone wasn’t easy—you don’t simply remove someone from the life and surroundings they’ve known and expect everything to fall into place overnight. But we were getting there. Little by little, I was watching her find comfort, routine, strength and joy again. Then what started as a trip to the ER for something relatively mild turned into a completely different journey after a fall while she was in their care. Now I’m watching her hurt through a condition and setback that wasn’t part of the journey we walked in with—and still having to advocate for the level of care she deserves afterward. That hurts. But I refuse to believe three months of progress disappeared in one moment. We may have been set back, but we are not back at the beginning. So we heal. We advocate.
