On June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Texas learned they were free—more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Today, Juneteenth is celebrated as a day of freedom, reflection, and hope.

We honor this important moment in our nation’s history and celebrate the enduring strength, resilience, and contributions of African Americans. Together, we continue building a future where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.
